Quayside Holdings Limited (QHL) is a company that Bay of Plenty Regional Council owns.
The Regional Council will receive 24.4% of its annual revenue from QHL in 2023/24. This income stream allows for the Regional Council to provide more services to its communities while maintaining affordable rates.
QHL provides long term financial security to the Regional Council through a diversified investment portfolio and by ensuring the Port of Tauranga, which it has a majority shareholding in, continues to thrive. QHL is unique in a New Zealand context, positioned to both support growth in the Bay of Plenty through investment, as well as benefit local communities through its relationship and distributions to the regional council.
It provides intergenerational support and security to Bay of Plenty ratepayers while helping the region to thrive. Recent examples include investing in kiwifruit development across the Bay and notably with Māori kiwifruit producers (Huakiwi) as well as the development of Rangiuru Business Park.
